Henrietta-Graham-Painter-Newlyn.jpg

Henrietta Graham has her studio in an old dance school in the centre of one of the largest fishing ports in the UK – Newlyn, Cornwall. Land of Poldark, historical piracy folklore and a bustling working harbour since the 15th Century.

Henrietta’s Newlyn series follows in the tradition of the artists colony ‘The Newlyn School’. Established in the late 1880’s this British ‘en plein air’ movement flourished until the early twentieth Century and included artists such as Stanhope Forbes, Elizabeth Forbes, Alfred Munnings, Walter Langley and Lamorna Birch who painted the daily life of Newlyn, the fishing community and surrounding landscape.

Henrietta recently tracked down the original easel of Lamorna Birch in an auction house and shipped it back to use in her studio.
