Henrietta Graham, the Cornwall-based painter known for her powerful figurative work, is featured in the BBC programme We Were the Mods.

Her striking series of Quadrophenia-inspired paintings which delve into Pete Towshend’s original story book, The 1979 Film and Quadrophenia: A Mod Ballet, were exhibited at world Premiere at Theatre Royal Plymouth and will be also exhibited at Sadlers Wells for the London Premiere.

The ballet reimagines The Who’s 1973 rock opera and its 1979 film adaptation through dance, music and visual storytelling. Henrietta’s paintings, displayed alongside the production, explore the raw emotion, fractured masculinity and search for identity at the heart of the Mod subculture. Her work brings a bold visual dimension to the ballet’s themes of youth, rebellion and transformation.

The programme connects key voices behind Quadrophenia past and present, including Pete Townshend, Rachel Fuller, Phil Daniels, and Rob Ashford, and highlights how artists like Henrietta are helping bring this iconic story to new audiences.

Henrietta Graham trained at Parsons School of Art in Paris and The Thomas Heatherly School of Fine Art in London. Exhibited and selected by The Royal Society of Portrait Painters ,The Royal Society of Marine (Prizewinner), The BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery London and Leighton House, London.
